The Flower District at 28th street is slowly waking up and it’s time for my daily run. It’s a beautiful and crisp morning, and I am on my way to the HighLine Park – an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side, with cool arts and awesome views over the city.
Back down in Meatpacking, running the cobble stone streets, I spot the ‘must-visit-later-on-today’ Milk Studios, which as a Dutch photographer and designer –and currently visiting NYC with my fellow designer Wendy, I’ve been following for some time now.
Boutiques -at this hour- are perfect for pre-shopping (I drop my speed). Darling – ‘a small shop in the big city’ – sell the latest styles by local designers, newest brands and vintage treasures. Hopefully we can find some stunning pieces to wear at a cocktail party in the Soho House tonight! Definitely ohs-and-ahs at Pierre Hardy’s newest shoes… Jeffreys… And… And..
Then I eyeball Morimoto, and I can’t wait ’till tonight to get surprised by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto‘s amazing japanese cuisine. We’ll be at the chef’s bar (thank you Kate) sipping white pear and yuzu cocktails. The tempting “oh my” omakase with exquisite fish selections, duck-duck-duck…, yum!
On my way back to the Pop Loft, I grab some delish mini cupcakes (I am in New York, right?) and organic coffee at Billy’s Bakery (“old fashioned baked goods made from scratch”) and I am almost back ‘home’ in the Pop Loft. It’s only eight thirty and there is still a wonderful day ahead of me, in my fave neighborhood and living like a local. Good Morning NYC!
