A Day in the Butter Suite

The Butter Suite is located just a stroll away from Gramercy Park. A true gem, this chic city district is surrounded by some of the trendiest hotels, restaurants and shops New York has to offer.

Jump-start your day at 71 Irving Café, a cozy escape from the urban morning rush, for craft coffees, an assorted breakfast menu and exceptional sandwiches. Alternatively, if you thrive off the city rush, join the 60,000 other market goers at the infamous Union Square Greenmarket where you will find the freshest, organic, and locally sourced seasonal products, from produce to poultry and baked goods (open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8am-6pm).

For an afternoon of shopping, hit the iconic shops on nearby 5th Avenue: Anthropologie, Club Monaco, JCrew, Victoria’s Secret…the list goes on. If fashion isn’t your forte, wander your way up to 20th and Broadway and visit Fish’s Eddy, one of our favorite shops selling to die for, affordable kitchenware. Cross the street and check out ABC Home & Carpet, arguably the best, and definitely the largest, design and furniture store in the city. Even if you’re just looking, it’s easy to get lost amongst all the beautifully inspiring home embellishments. Hopefully you’ve worked up an appetite by now because you don’t want to miss lunch at ABC Kitchen. Under the curation of both ABC Home and Michelin star Chef Jean-Georges, this restaurant honors the preservation of the arts and the farm-to-table-movement, serving up some of the best local, organic plates in town amongst amazing, rustic, French provincial decor.

After stimulating your senses at lunch, head to The National Arts Club, located on the south side of Gramercy Park, to stimulate your mind and get a little afternoon culture fix.
Grab a pre-dinner cocktail at the Rose Bar at the top of the Gramercy Park Hotel, a topnotch bar with a moody décor and atmosphere. If you’re feeling more like a small “aperitivo”, head to Bar Jamón, next to Casa Mono, for a truly unique dining experience, featuring tasty tapas and great wines from all corners of the Iberian Peninsula. Both restaurants are lead by chef Mario Batalli, so it’s safe to say that neither will disappoint!

During the warmer months soak up the sun in the garden at Pure Food and Wine. The best raw-vegan food in the city combined with an unbelievably romantic garden makes for a memorable meal. When the weather isn’t so forgiving, lounge in front of the fireplaces with a martini at Cibar, it’s simply magic!
For the late night owls, drop by the Jazz Standard for some classic jazz and swing pianos, or Irving Plaza, a top venue in New York City’s music scene.
We hope you enjoy the Butter Suite’s neighborhood as much as we do!
